Find the Regional Manager Hiring Sales Reps in Your Market
Ad Call reads the live sales representative ads in your market and hands back, for each company, the regional or district sales manager most likely to own that territory's req, even when they sit in another city: name, title, email and office line, graded by confidence, with days open and reposts.
The manager hiring a sales rep in your city probably doesn't live in your city.

A field sales req belongs to the manager who owns the territory's number: a regional, district or area sales manager. That person may be based two states away and cover five metros. Headquarters HR posts the ad, and the VP of Sales approves headcount, but neither will carry the new rep's quota. Inside sales reps are different: an inside sales manager in the office owns those. At a small distributor or manufacturer, the sales manager or owner is the whole process and should be called directly.
- Senior sales rep in the territoryKnows the accounts and the gap, and sometimes refers candidates. Not the hiring decision.
- Sales Manager (Regional / District / Area Sales Manager)usually owns the reqOwns the territory and the req. Often based in another city; look for the title with a region name.
- Inside Sales Manager / Manager, Inside SalesOwns inside and phone-based rep reqs from the office. Not the right call for a field territory.
- Senior Manager, Sales / Regional Vice PresidentApproves headcount across several districts. Call when a company is opening multiple territories at once.
- VP of Sales (headquarters)Sets territories and quotas. Useful at a small company where no regional layer exists; otherwise routes you down.
What Ad Call gives you for a sales rep ad
For outside sales ads Ad Call leads with the regional or district sales manager whose territory includes the ad's city, not the headquarters recruiter, and shows their office line wherever they sit. Signals flag commission-only and contractor offers, and how many territories the company is filling at once.
- An open territory is revenue leaking to competitors every week; the regional manager is covering it from another state.
- A repost after a departure means existing customers are unattended and at risk.
- Base plus commission and a vehicle is a real W-2 job, worth a strong candidate's time.
Outside sales rep territory hiring: why the owner is somewhere else
Field sales is organized by geography. The BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook lists assigning sales territories, setting goals and establishing training programs for sales representatives among a sales manager's core duties, and notes they may travel to meet with sales staff, customers or distributors. A regional manager might cover Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky from Columbus. When the Indianapolis rep quits, that manager inherits the territory's customers, the territory's number and the empty seat.
That is who you want. The regional manager knows which accounts are at risk, which competitor is circling them, and what kind of rep would keep them. Headquarters HR knows the salary band. The ad is usually posted under the company's main address or the job's city, so recruiters often call the local branch or HQ and never reach the owner.
The work is large and turns over constantly. BLS counts 1,571,400 wholesale and manufacturing sales representative jobs in 2025 and, even with little or no change in total employment projected from 2025 to 2035, expects about 123,400 openings a year, mostly from reps leaving or changing jobs. BLS also notes that some reps have large territories and may be away from home for days or weeks, while others cover a smaller region. The territory size in the ad tells you how much travel your candidate is signing up for.
The pitch: customer relationships in that geography. A regional manager does not want a great rep; they want a rep who already knows the buyers in the territory. "She has called on the maintenance managers at the big plants in central Indiana for six years" beats any quota number.

Field sales managers are rarely at a desk. Plan around their week, not yours. The call: reaching a regional manager two states away
Get the name before you call (Ad Call puts the territory owner in the results), then call their direct or mobile line if you have it, or the office and ask to be connected.Sales rep ad red flags: commission-only and 1099 offers
Some sales representative ads are not jobs you want to place into. Know the tells.
Commission-only with a W-2. This can be legal: the Department of Labor's Fact Sheet 17F says outside sales employees whose primary duty is making sales, and who are customarily and regularly away from the employer's place of business, are exempt, and that the salary requirements do not apply to that exemption. Legal is not the same as placeable. Many experienced reps with a relationship book want a base, and BLS notes most employers pay a combination of salary and commissions or salary plus bonuses.
"Independent contractor" or 1099. Sometimes this is a genuine independent manufacturers' rep arrangement. MANA, the manufacturers' agents association, defines an independent rep as an agency selling for others at its own financial risk and expense, with a code of ethics that asks reps to conscientiously cover the assigned territory. That is a business relationship, not a hire, and not your fee. When the ad describes an employee's job (set hours, required meetings, company quotas) but pays on a 1099, walk away politely.
Unlimited earning potential, no product named. Often a high-churn door-to-door or lead-resale operation. Skip it.
Where the money is: base plus commission, a named product line, a defined territory, and a regional manager who has been covering it for over a month. Ad Call surfaces those signals in the results.
Questions recruiters ask about sales representative reqs
- Who hires sales representatives?
For outside or field reps, the regional, district or area sales manager who owns the territory, often based in another city. For inside reps, the inside sales manager. At small companies, the sales manager or owner. HR posts the ad; the VP of Sales approves headcount.
- What is the best time to contact a sales representative hiring manager?
Early Monday before the weekly pipeline call, Friday afternoon, or the late-afternoon drive home. Avoid month-end and quarter-end, when field managers are closing deals.
- How do I find the regional manager's email for a sales rep job?
Ad Call reads each sales rep ad and returns the manager most likely to own that territory, with name, title, email and office line, graded by confidence, even when they are based elsewhere. Three searches free, no credit card.
- Can a sales rep bring their customers to a new employer?
It depends on their agreement and state law. Get the agreement from the candidate, disclose any restriction, and let the employer's attorney decide. California voids most non-competes under section 16600; many other states enforce reasonable ones.
